Mayor of Fatih Municipality Mustafa Demir visited Yeditepe Animal Shelter which was attacked and 9 pitbull dogs were stolen from.

After Yeditepe Animal Shelter was attacked and 9 pitbull dogs were stolen, Mayor of Fatih Mustafa Demir who visited and inspected the shelter said “It is a cheap and vulgar incident. It is something that children did in order to use the dogs in dogfights. “

Last Sunday towards morning, unidentified persons attacked and stole 9 pitbull dogs from the Yeditepe Animal Shelter which belongs to Fatih Municipality. In the incident which one person was arrested, 5 of 9 dogs are found and handed over to the shelter.

After the incident, Mayor of Fatih Mustafa Demir visited the shelter and gave information to the press about the incident.

Indicating that security is almost the biggest problem of metropolitan areas, Mayor Mustafa Demir said: “After this incident occurred, as a result of our efforts with police forces, the people who did this were the children known as thinner-addicts. After arresting one of them and finding out that he was one of the culprits, the stolen dogs were found and brought back to the shelter. It is a cheap and vulgar incident. It is something that the children did in order to use the dogs in dogfights. “

THE SHELTER IS NOT UNATTENDED

Implying that “The shelter has 14-years past”, Mustafa Demir also said “I am mayor for 11 years and I protect this shelter very carefully. We have 11 workers here and 5 of them stay in the shelter. The shelter is not unattended. Our purpose is not to captivate the animals here, this place is somewhere genuine which brings people and animals together. I think this is only a rumor. I am mayor and I do not know about this issue. This kind of demand is not in question, neither from Metropolitan Municipality nor from us.”

After the explanations, Mayor Demir petted the animals in the shelter.
