Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu Performed his Eid prayer in the Blue Mosque

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu performed the Eid prayer in the Blue Mosque. After listening to the khutbah orated by Prof Dr. Mehmet Görmez, he left the mosque. Prime Minister Davutoğlu was accompanied by his wife Sare Davutoğlu, İdris Güllüce, Minister of Environment and Urbanisation, Selim Temurci, AK Party Floor Leader of Istanbul and Mustafa Demir, Mayor of Fatih Municipality. Attracting a great deal of interest from the public at the exit of the mosque, Davutoğlu made some statements for the press.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu stated that his party has been carrying out open consultation with the leaders of the opposition parties for a coalition government and said: “We will resume the work after Eid.”

Wishing a blessed Eid for the country, the nation, and the world, Davutoğlu spoke: “As a feature of the blue mosque, we have had the opportunity to celebrate Eid with brothers and sisters from many different countries of nearly the whole Islamic World. With these celebrations, not only can we have a nice Eid under the atmosphere of peace and serenity in our country, we also pay respect to our brothers and sisters who cannot celebrate Eid like they are meant to. May Allah help our brothers and sisters who have to spend Eid under duress in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, various regions of Central Asia, and especially, Palestine. Aside from maintaining the domestic peace, Turkey will continue her efforts to make Eid celebrated on the side of all those facing oppression in the world. We prayed for a good outcome after Ramadan which we spent trying to form a government. We pray so that Allah may grant that which is best for our country.”
