Ashura was served in historical mosques

Fatih Municipality served Ashura to people after Friday Prayer in the mosques in historical peninsula.

People made long queues to taste Ashura served after Friday Prayer.

On the occasion of the month of Muharram, Fatih Municipality served Ashura to people in the historical mosques in the district. People were served Ashura after Friday Prayer in the mosques including Süleymaniye, Fatih, Sultanahmet and Yavuz Sultan Selim Mosque.

Giving information on this ritual, Mr. Mustafa Demir, Mayor of Fatih Municipality expressed: “We are now in Fatih Mosque. We are in a place highly important for us and we are on the Ashura Day of such an important month. We are traditionally serving Ashura in order to experience and preserve the month of Muharram. With purpose of reminding and preserving this valuable day, we are serving 12 thousands bowls of Ashura in not only Fatih but also Sultanahmet, Süleymaniye, Yavuz Sultan Selim and Sümbül Efendi Mosque and almost all mosques in Fatih. May the Ashura Day be blessed”.

People made long queues to taste Ashura served in Fatih Mosque. Ashura which was cooked in large boilers was consumed in a short time. Thanking Mr. Mustafa Demir, Mayor of Fatih Municipality, people said that they like Ashura.

One of the people tasting Ashura said: “This is a good tradition. We experience it every year. Remembering Ashura Day is really nice.May God allow us to commemorate Imam Hussain ibn Ali, remember him and comprehend his belief and live like him. May God bless our Mayor”.
