Attending the meeting of the Union of Historical Towns, Fatih Mayor Mustafa Demir: ''All historical artifacts have been taken inventory and recorded. God forbid, if anything should happen, my works are in the state of being revived from their square millimeters.’’

Union of Historical Towns arranged the first meeting of 2016 at the Steigenberger Hotel in Maslak which was hosted by Sarıyer Municipality. A large number of guests as well as mayors of Marmara Regions attended the meeting. Fatih Mayor Mustafa Demir, Eyüp Mayor Remzi Aydın, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Recep Altepe and Edirne Mayor Recep Gürkan participated to the panel as a speaker with respect to the Experience Shares of the Union of Historical Towns of Marmara Region in line with targets for 2016.

“We are at an undeniable level in terms of restoration technique”

Fatih Mayor Mustafa Demir emphasized in his presentation during the panel that many of the historical and cultural artifacts within the borders of Fatih district were restored and unearthed and also added that the historical peninsula hosts a great cultural heritage in Turkey and world's history. Mustafa Demir: ''We renewed ourselves in every restoration work we carried. We learned something new in all our projects with our technical team. Therefore, I can easily say that we have been very successful on the latest restoration works and we have reached to a good point in terms of using time and sources. From 2004 until today, I can assure you that we are at an undeniable level in terms of restoration and restoration techniques, material information and implementation under the scope of both laws introduced regarding the sources and works that triggered them.''

More Than 10,000 Historical Artifacts Were Registered

Noting that thousands of historical artifacts were recorded in accordance with the latest works, Mayor Mustafa Demir added: '' 10,400 historical artifacts were given no registration certificate so far. No survey in detail was carried even for the Great Mosque of Salahaddin until that period which is an ancestry survival. What does that mean? There are some historical artifacts which were built 500 years ago but this country wasn’t able to record and give identity for these historical artifacts. But today, even if we don't take into account the restorations we completed, inventories of all historical artifacts were taken and recorded. God forbid, if anything should happen, my works are in the state of being revived from their square millimeters. I can easily say that we have such an accumulation of knowledge.''
