Ashure were offered to 11,000 citizens during the Ashure offering organized for the 16th time in the Historical Egyptian Bazaar.

The tourists appreciated the ashure which they tasted for the first time during the event where Fatih Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir distributed an ashure decorated with pomegranate in the shape of a Turkish flag.

Ashure was distributed to 11,000 citizens during the Ashure offering organized for the 16th time this year in the historical Egyptian Bazaar with the collaboration of Fatih Municipality and Malatya Bazaar owing to Muharram. The traditional event started with an emphasis on fertility and sharing as prayers were read owing to the month of Muharram.

Fatih Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir offered ashure to the citizens while the tourists were highly interested in the ashure. The citizens formed long queues to grab a plate of the ashure and the tourists said they really liked the ashure, which they tasted for the first time. The Turkish flag made of pomegranate on the ashure in the boilers was appreciated by the citizens.

"I hope that our country will find peace and happiness"

Mentioning that people coming from everywhere in Turkey meet in the Egyptian Bazaar, Fatih Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said, "There is a preparation to be distributed to about 11,000 people. I hope our country will find peace and happiness and we have started our event today hoping that this would be our small, humble means to it. We see how different foodstuffs reach a beautiful taste when they are boiled in a pot. This can actually be thought as a reflection of the world which is a boiler and us as the grains inside it. We think when people live in peace and serenity, this has a special taste. In a sense, ashure is like that for me."
