Excitement of Historical Baklava Parade in Fatih

Fatih Municipality performed the fourth of “Baklava Parade” tradition this year that was started in the period of Suleyman the Magnificent.

The fourth of the ‘Baklava Parade’, which was one of the most important traditions of the Ottoman period, was performed in the Sultanahmet Square with the participation of the Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and the Fatih Mayor Hasan Suver.

Janissaries getting out of the Topkapı Palace in company with janissary band members marched towards the Hippodrome with baklava trays in their hands in the activity, 4th of which was made this year. The march started in front of the Fountain of Ahmed III, and it was completed in the platform installed at the German Fountain, which is in front of the Hippodrome.

Fatih Mayor Suver said in his speech that they are happy to keep this historical tradition alive. Minister Kaya talked about the approaching election as “We will make Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has served to this nation, worked day and night in our 16-year long administration, comes from the heart of this nation and the son of this nation, as the President with the support you will provide to us.”

Baklava was served to citizens and tourists in the “Baklava Parade” activity that is organized in Sultanahmet as special to Ramadan. 20 janissaries wearing the clothes of the period and 80 military officers brought the historical personalities into life in the activity where 60-person janissary band team gave a concert, subsequently 20 thousand boxes of baklava was served to citizens and tourists at the tables laid on specific areas of the Sultanahmet Mosque.
