Fatih Municipality has signed another project that will set an example in the field of social solidarity and rehabilitation. The ‘Animal-Assisted Therapy Programme (Pati Therapy)’ protocol was signed as part of the cooperation with the Küçükçekmece Probation Directorate. The protocol was signed by Mr. Resul Emrah Bilgin, Director of Küçükçekmece Probation Office, and Mr. Hasan Durhat, Deputy Mayor of Fatih Municipality.
The Pati (Paw) Therapy Programme to be implemented within this scope aims to bring an innovative approach to the social integration and rehabilitation processes of individuals under probation. The programme aims to strengthen individuals' life skills, reintegrate them into society, and develop their sense of responsibility.
The programme will utilise the therapeutic effects of contact with animals; participants will work on their empathy skills, anger management, stress management, and feelings of trust and belonging. Increasing awareness of animal rights and developing social awareness will also be an important focus of the programme.
Throughout the programme, veterinarians, trainers and probation officers will work closely with individuals; progress will be monitored through regular follow-ups, guidance and scientific assessments. Therapy sessions will be held at regular intervals, with special plans tailored to each individual's needs.
The Pati Therapy Programme, run with the support of the Fatih Municipality, represents a pioneering collaboration between local government and justice institutions in the field of animal-assisted therapy. This model aims to create a healing bridge for individuals seeking to reconnect with society.
The project aims not only at individual development but also at increasing social awareness. Centred on animal love, this programme is also important in terms of strengthening social cohesion, reducing the risk of reoffending, and improving individuals' quality of life.
With the ‘Pati Therapy’ programme, Fatih Municipality offers an exemplary approach by bringing together both its animal-friendly policies and its people-oriented social projects. The data obtained during the implementation process will be used to scientifically evaluate the effects of the animal-assisted therapy model in the field of rehabilitation, with the aim of disseminating it as a best practice example.
Fatih Municipality's work once again highlights the active role of local governments in social transformation processes, while making visible the transformative power of animal love, empathy, and responsibility in human life.
