Advisory Board Meeting of Site Management Directorate was held with the presence of Mr. Gül, the Governor and Mr. Turan, the Mayor

The Advisory Board Meeting of the Site Management Directorate was held with the participation of Mr. Davut Gül, the Governor of İstanbul, Mr. M. Ergün Turan, the Mayor of Fatih Municipality, Mr. Cafer Sarılı, the District Governor of Fatih and Mr. Mustafa Tural, the Site Management Director of Historical Areas of İstanbul. Mr. Turan, the Mayor stated that protecting the historical texture of Fatih and keeping the cultural heritage alive are the main priorities.

The Advisory Board Meeting of the Site Management Directorate was held with the participation of Mr. Davut Gül, the Governor of İstanbul, Mr. M. Ergün Turan, the Mayor of Fatih Municipality, Mr. Cafer Sarılı, the District Governor of Fatih and Mr. Mustafa Tural, the Site Management Director of Historical Areas of İstanbul. At the meeting, the current status of four important conservation areas which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and located within the borders of Fatih, the determination of sustainable conservation policies and the steps to be taken to pass the cultural heritage down to future generations were discussed.

In his statement made after the meeting, Mr. Turan, the Mayor stated that the conservation of the historical texture of Fatih district and the preservation of cultural heritage are among the main priorities. He also emphasised the importance of national and international cooperation in the work carried out in these areas and stated that they are in constant consultation with stakeholders to protect the values on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

At the meeting, the current status and targeted results of the projects planned to be carried out in these conservation areas were also evaluated. Mr. Mustafa Tural, Site Management Director of Historical Sites of İstanbul, emphasised the importance of comprehensive conservation works, stating that these sites are not only historical values but also elements that shape the cultural identity of the city.

While the members of the Advisory Board exchanged views on new initiatives for the restoration of historical monuments, landscaping and sustainable development of tourism in the region, they agreed that the preservation of the originality of historical buildings should be the primary goal.
