Mayor Turan Presented Awards to Athletes Who Ranked the Highest in the Final Stage of the International Istanbul Cycling Tour in Fatih
Mr. M. Ergün Turan, the Mayor of Fatih Municipality, together with Mr. Emin Müftüoğlu, the President of Turkish Cycling Federation, presented awards to the athletes who ranked the highest in the final stage of the International Istanbul Cycling Tour at the subsequent awards ceremony, congratulating them on their success. The International Istanbul Cycling Tour has once again consolidated its place in Istanbul's international sporting calendar this year. The fourth and final stage of the event took place in Fatih, the heart of the city. Professional cyclists from different countries around the world pedalled through streets bearing the traces of history, as Istanbul once again took to the world stage through the universal language of sport.

The stage in Fatih was run on a special course showcasing Istanbul's universal heritage. The excitement began under the dome of Hagia Sophia and continued on the cobbled streets of Sultanahmet Square. The bustling atmosphere of the Grand Bazaar and the historical past of the Basilica Cistern provided a cultural aspect to the race. For the athletes, this route was not only a physical challenge but also a journey intertwined with history.
Mr. M. Ergün Turan, the Mayor of Fatih Municipality emphasised the importance of the event in his statement following the tour:
"It is an honour for us to host the final stage of the International Istanbul Cycling Tour in Fatih. Our athletes pedalled in the shadow of our centuries-old monuments, showcasing Istanbul's cultural heritage to the world. Such events are not just races; they are also powerful promotional tools. Istanbul has once again become a meeting point for sport and culture."
Mr. Turan also emphasised the importance of instilling a love of sport in young people and stated that the municipality would continue to make contributions to sports. At the awards ceremony held after the stage, Mr. Turan, together with Mr. Emin Müftüoğlu, President of the Turkish Cycling Federation, presented the awards to the athletes who had achieved top rankings. Praising the athletes' performance, Mr. Turan said, ‘I would like to thank all our athletes for giving us this excitement, and I wish them continued success.’
On race day, the streets and squares of Fatih were transformed into a festival venue. Thousands of citizens cheered on the athletes from behind the barriers. The excitement in the children's eyes offered a promising glimpse into the future of cycling. Families and young people experienced an unforgettable day, becoming part of both the race and the historic atmosphere.
The Fatih stage of the Tour of Istanbul was not only a sporting event but also a powerful showcase for Istanbul's international promotion.
