Fatih Municipality has transferred the Exhibition ‘Single and Multiple' held at the Nusret Çolpan Art Gallery to a virtual tour format as part of its digital archive work. In recent years, Fatih Municipality has stood out in its cultural policies not only with venue-based events but also with steps to ensure the permanence of productions through digitalisation. The transfer of the Exhibition ‘Single and Multiple’ to the digital archive via a virtual tour application is one of the strongest examples of this vision.

This initiative ensures that art is accessible at any time and from anywhere, not just in a specific venue and for a limited period. Thus, the exhibition continues to live on as a memory element that resists the passage of time.

The Exhibition ‘Single and Multiple’ is a collective selection generated by the Birlikte Sanat Atölyesi (Art Together Workshop) under the leadership of painter Cemal Toy. 151 works by 43 artists reinterpret Istanbul's multi-layered cultural structure using different techniques.

Watercolour works feature transitions of water and light, oil paintings convey intensity and permanence, mixed media works capture the multifaceted texture of the city, photographic works explore the scale relationship between architecture and people, while textile works transform the texture of everyday life into art.

This diversity demonstrates how individual styles can come together on a collective production ground, symbolising how ‘single’ voices come together to form a ‘multiple’ aesthetic texture.

Curated by Ayşegül Ekin Odabaşı, the exhibition was structured under the headings ‘Light and Water,’ ‘Texture and Trace,’ ‘Passage and Layer,’ and ‘Memory and Everyday Life.’

Thanks to these headings, the viewer encountered not only the meaning of individual works but also the collective narrative created by the invisible connections between them. Istanbul's walls, hills, bazaars, and rhythms of daily life have acquired a new aesthetic language through this narrative.

The virtual tour prepared by the Fatih Municipality is more than just a ‘visiting convenience’; it is an archival initiative that ensures the permanence of cultural productions. In this respect, it is considered a contemporary manifestation of the municipality's cultural policy approach of ‘bringing the past and present together and passing them on to the future.’

The exhibition is now accessible not only from Istanbul but from all over the world. This means that local production is now accessible globally.

Fatih Municipality supports the preservation of historical fabric and the transmission of cultural heritage to future generations not only through restoration projects but also through innovative applications in the field of culture and art.

The Nusret Çolpan Art Gallery, at the heart of this vision, offers young artists the opportunity to showcase their works. The virtual tour of the Exhibition ‘Single and Multiple’, transferred to digital memory, proves that the gallery is not just a physical venue, but also a cultural hub where individual memories intersect with collective memory.

The Exhibition ‘Single and Multiple’ is now more than just an event that took place between September 19 and October 3, 2025. Through the virtual tour, it has become a permanent digital archive, a universally accessible element of cultural memory.

This step ensures that young artists' productions reach wider audiences while also providing a continuous, contemporary reading of Istanbul's cultural heritage. The exhibition brings together both individual creativity and collective production, transforming into a powerful expression of art carried into the future.
