Fatih Municipality organised a meaningful solidarity event to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to provide support to those in need in the region. The Gaza Charity Exhibition, opened at the Nusret Çolpan Art Gallery, invites art lovers to a special atmosphere where charity, conscience and solidarity come together. The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. M. Ergün Turan, the Mayor, along with figures from the art world, representatives of civil society organisations, business people and many guests.
In his speech at the opening, Mayor Turan emphasised that the exhibition was not only an art gathering but also a call for social conscience:
"Art has been the voice of goodness throughout history. Every artwork exhibited here is a call for hope, solidarity and support for Gaza. I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Yusuf İyilik, ASKON, the Deniz Feneri Association and everyone who contributed. The Gaza Charity Exhibition is a powerful example of art combined with conscience."
Artists from different disciplines contributed to the proliferation of goodness with their works at the exhibition. Oil paintings, calligraphy and marbling works, photographs and examples of contemporary art adorned the gallery walls. Some works depicted the children of Gaza, while others recalled the historical traces of Palestine. Prayers written in calligraphy stood out as symbols of patience and resilience, while paper marbling (ebru) patterns reflected the continuity of hope.
Visitors did not merely embark on an artistic journey through the works; they also became part of a humanitarian sensitivity. The atmosphere in the exhibition hall clearly demonstrated the transformative power of art. Participants expressed that each work was a bridge of kindness extending to Gaza, recognising that art carries not only aesthetic but also moral value.
At the end of his speech, Mayor Turan reminded everyone that the exhibition would be open until 2 November and invited all Istanbulites to join this goodwill movement:
"Every visit will touch a heart in Gaza. Art lovers will not only encounter the beauty of art here, but will also be part of a goodwill movement. Every artwork here represents a breath of fresh air for those in need."
Organised with the support of the Fatih Municipality, the Gaza Charity Exhibition combines the power of art with conscience, offering both aesthetic richness and a sense of human responsibility. The exhibition stands out as a powerful platform of solidarity, making social awareness visible through art. The exhibition, which will remain open until November 2, will be remembered as a gathering where art took action for the greater good.
